Ah i hear ya man... i hear ya. I think the real problem and the one that i absolutely hate to admit was i was trying to hide Sol's gimpness a little too well. I think it ended up working as the last i recall he was just under level 48 (after dying 2 or 3 times to lag) had -30something AC, a +5 Yumi, and a paltry 1.5 mil adena to his name which only came from *VERY* generous guildies. If that wasn't the utter gimp of Lin i don't know who was. Seeing as how Lin was fairly elitest (you have to admit levels above 50 are an *extreme* advantage) and my extremely competative nature it just didn't jive with me being bottom of the totem pole for the better part of 2-3 years. The worst was feeling like i was dragging everyone else down. I've kept up a little with Lin though and i'm sure the changes are pretty nice (Level 10 spells for Mages whoa there's a concept!) I doubt i'd actually level any of my characters.
That's not to say you might not find me around Lin but i'd use it more like a chat room/keeping up with long lost friends. Lin never liked me with drops either. It probably took me the better part of a year to simply get a Zel. I think my guildies had to compensate for my character more then i care to admit. Still by far the most fun i had was using Rie's CoI to be invisible healer follower of 1337ness. So there might just be one last item i'd love to get my hands on... ah who knows. Simply dropping Mirages' Knight's name was near enough for me. A practical blood bond when it concerns those two as they could ask for anything and if i could give it i would =). Lineage's strongest suit was the cool community as far as i'm concerned though and i'm sure it still has plenty of pluses but i'm not sure it'll jive with how casual i'm going to be.
BC on the other hand has tangible rewards for time invested whether it's half an hour a day or 9 hours a day. The new Arena in BC will be more focused on good players teaming up with other good players to get epics key phrase: *on par with raid loot (though PvP oreinted)* and achievable at a reasonable pace (no more stupid Grand Marshall grind of death). Teams get matched up to other teams based on win to loss record or rather skill. You only need to play a minimum of 10 matches a week and most last less then 5 minutes long. The best team gets the loot the fastest but it has been stated by a blue that even the worst team will eventually get the epics. The single best concept i have ever heard i say. With gear being "normalized" due to 10 more levels of play, more stamina on gear as well as the new resillence stat, abilities for all the various classes that are looking really good, Warlocks having *three* viable trees rather then 2 and instances being more focused on 5 and 10 mans things are really looking up (instance max in BC is 25). It's starting to look more and more like the casual game it started out being. It's a damn shame our guild had to suffer before Blizzard actually realized this.
Anyways i'll try to keep in touch regardless. Funny thing though your the first to hear i'm coming back boss ;).
To see the future is to be trapped by it.
